What is an LEI code and what do you need to know about it?
The LEI (Legal Entity Identifier) is a unique identification number for legal entities, funds, and sole proprietors. The purpose of this identification code is to ensure accessible data in one location for regulatory authorities and agencies of EU member states. The LEI code consists of 20 characters, which a legal entity must obtain by the end of the current year if it is engaged in the buying and selling of securities in Slovenia and abroad. In accordance with the ISO 17442 standard, you are obliged to obtain an LEI code regardless of the market/country in which you trade, and regardless of the type of securities you trade.
